Priscilla Hawkins

pracilla-cole-hawkins
I’m Priscilla Hawkins and I’ve studied cello since childhood and graduated from the University of Michigan Music School. I have served as principal cellist of the Detroit Women’s Symphony, Bakersfield Symphony and the Tulare County Symphony. I holds a California Teaching Credential and have taught cello and chamber music privately and in the schools for 30 years and was a member of the interdisciplinary story telling group Voice of the Wood for 16 years. I am currently Sacramento Section President of The American String Teacher’s Association. In my continuing quest for new musical ideas, I am studying alternative cello music and techniques. My cello teachers include Arlene Seaman, Oliver Edel, Jeff Solow and Ron Leonard.

I currently perfom with Tango Twosome, a cello duo rocking out on jazz, blues, tango, and folk. Their recordings of Libertango and Fuga by Piazzolla can be heard on my CD Out of the Wood.

My Recent CD, “Back Beat Cellos” can be found on cdbaby.com or purchased by contacting me directly.
